Whitney Houston couture dress by Marc Bouwer at the 2009 MTV VMA's!!
In 2007, Whitney Houston was forced to auction around 300 garments from her storage to help pay off her debts. We recently acquired this fun Marc Bouwer sequin couture dress from the auction. AMT customer, model and DJ, TygerLilly rocked the dress for this months MTV Video Music Awards at New York's Radio City Music Hall, check it out!!

Marc Bouwer, a recent guest judge on one of our favorite shows, Project Runway designed this fun, flirty, sequined party dress for Whitney herself back in the early 90's.
Moving to NYC from his native South Africa, he worked for fashion legend, Halston before starting his own couture fashion label in 1990. A favorite designer of Whitney (he designed her wedding gown), Bouwer has also designed for such notables as Angelina Jolie, Beyonce, Charlize Theron, Paris Hilton, Heidi Klum, Sarah Jessica Parker and many many more!
To top it all off.... Bouwer is a PETA Humanitarian Award winner and made history when he presented a collection completely free of animal products in 2002 famously remarking "fur belongs on an animal, not on a hanger".

Happy Anniversary Woodstock Festival! 40 years!!
Some great examples of Woodstock era clothing....
1960's suede fringe dress
1960's star spangled bell bottoms
Billed by it's young promoters as "three days of peace and music", and widely regarded as one of the greatest moments in popular music history, The Woodstock music festival attracted nearly half a million fans to a pasture in Sullivan County, NY August 15th - 18th, 1969. The Jefferson Airplane, Creedence Clearwater Revival and The Who signed for double their usual fees, and Jimi Hendrix signed for $32,000. Originally a profit making venture, it famously became a free concert when it was obvious the event would draw hundreds of thousands more people than the organizers had prepared for. Such a success was the festival, NY State introduced a whole raft of new laws to ensure it would never happen again! Held during a time of military conflict and racial discord, participants quickly became aware that the event had taken on a meaning beyond its original intent. Minds were 'open', drugs were used and 'love' was 'free'.
